Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, heat the olive oil. Add the diced onion and bell peppers, sautéing until they begin to soften.
- Add the steak and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another 1-2 minutes, then season with salt and pepper to taste.
- While the steak mixture is cooking, slice the Italian bread in half lengthwise and hollow out some of the bread from the center.
Assembly
- Spoon the steak mixture into the hollowed-out bread.
- Generously sprinkle the provolone and mozzarella cheese over the top.
Baking
- Place the stuffed loaf on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, until the cheese is bubbling and the bread is golden.
- Remove from the oven, let cool for a few minutes, and sprinkle with fresh parsley before slicing into portions.
Notes
Consider substituting lime juice for lemon for a tangy twist, or use gluten-free bread if needed.
