Cheesesteak-Stuffed Garlic Loaf

  • 1 loaf Italian bread Large, about 16 oz
  • 1 lb Steak Sirloin or ribeye
  • 1 cup Provolone cheese Shredded
  • 1 cup Mozzarella cheese Shredded
  • 4 cloves Garlic Minced
  • 1 medium Bell pepper Diced
  • 1 medium Onion Diced
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
  • for garnish Fresh parsley
  • Optional: Crushed red pepper flakes For heat

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, heat the olive oil. Add the diced onion and bell peppers, sautéing until they begin to soften.
  3. Add the steak and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another 1-2 minutes, then season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. While the steak mixture is cooking, slice the Italian bread in half lengthwise and hollow out some of the bread from the center.
Assembly
  1. Spoon the steak mixture into the hollowed-out bread.
  2. Generously sprinkle the provolone and mozzarella cheese over the top.
Baking
  1. Place the stuffed loaf on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, until the cheese is bubbling and the bread is golden.
  2. Remove from the oven, let cool for a few minutes, and sprinkle with fresh parsley before slicing into portions.

Notes

Consider substituting lime juice for lemon for a tangy twist, or use gluten-free bread if needed.
