Method
Preparation
- Rinse the chicken breasts under cold water and pat them dry. For even cooking, consider cutting the breasts in half.
Layering Ingredients
- Place the chicken breasts at the bottom of the crockpot. Layer the cream cheese, jalapenos, shredded cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper on top.
Adding the Liquid
- Pour the chicken broth over the mixture, ensuring the chicken is almost covered. This will help everything cook down nicely.
Cooking
- Cover and set your crockpot to low for 4 hours or high for 2 hours. The chicken should be tender and easily shredded with forks.
Finishing Touches
- Once cooked, shred the chicken directly in the crockpot and mix everything well. For a thicker consistency, let it cook for an additional 10–15 minutes uncovered.
Notes
For a spicy kick, add a dash of cayenne pepper or switch up the cheeses to a pepper jack! You can also prepare everything the night before and keep it stored in the slow cooker base in your fridge.
