Ingredients

For the Sliders
  • 12 pieces Hawaiian rolls Use fresh, sweet Hawaiian rolls for best results.
  • 8 oz sharp cheddar cheese, shredded Can be substituted with pepper jack cheese for a tangy twist.
  • 8 oz mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 4 tbsp butter, softened Should be at room temperature for easy spreading.
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder An optional extra flavor boost.
  • Optional: Sliced tomatoes or cooked bacon Add these for extra flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. With a serrated knife, slice the Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally while keeping them attached.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter, garlic powder, and onion powder, then spread this mixture on the inside of each half of the rolls.
  4. Layer half of the shredded cheese on the bottom half of the rolls. If using, add sliced tomatoes or cooked bacon on top.
  5. Cover with the remaining cheese, then place the top half of the rolls back on.
Cooking
  1. Wrap the entire assembly in aluminum foil and bake for 12 minutes.
  2. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 8 minutes until golden brown and melty.
  3. Let them cool for a few minutes, then cut into individual sliders and serve warm.

Notes

For added variety, consider pairing sliders with a side salad or tomato soup, and use gourmet dipping sauces. To avoid overcooking, keep an eye on the sliders as they bake.
