  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil For searing the steak.
  • 4 tablespoons Butter (unsalted) Adds flavor to the garlic butter sauce.
  • 4 cloves Fresh garlic (crushed) Milder taste if using roasted garlic.
  • a few sprigs Fresh thyme (or rosemary) For added aroma.
Seasoning and Optional Ingredients
  • to taste Salt For seasoning the steak.
  • to taste Pepper For seasoning the steak.
  • 1 Optional: Lemon (for tangy finish) Substitute lime if preferred.

Method

Preparation
  1. Remove the steak from the fridge and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
  2. Season generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
Cooking
  1. In a heavy skillet or cast-iron pan, heat olive oil over high heat until shimmering.
  2. Place the steak in the pan and sear for 4-5 minutes on one side without moving it.
  3. Flip the steak using tongs and sear for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium-rare.
  4. Reduce heat to medium-low and add the butter, crushed garlic, and thyme to the pan.
  5. Spoon the melted butter over the steak for about 2 minutes.
Finishing
  1. Remove the steak and let it rest on a cutting board for 5 minutes before slicing.
  2. Slice against the grain and drizzle the garlic butter from the pan over the slices.
  3. For an additional zing, squeeze some lemon juice on top.

Notes

For optimal results, avoid overcrowding the pan and let the steak rest after cooking to keep it juicy. Consider using grass-fed beef for a healthier option.
